Odisha Braces for Heavy Rainfall: What to Expect in the Coming Days

Forecast for Odisha: Heavy Rain Ahead
Bhubaneswar is set to experience significant rainfall over the next three days as the southwest monsoon has fully enveloped Odisha, aided by the formation of a low-pressure system in the vicinity, according to officials on Tuesday.
The monsoon made its early arrival in Odisha this year on May 28, arriving two weeks ahead of the usual schedule.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported, "The southwest monsoon has progressed further and has now covered all regions of Odisha. The northern limit of the monsoon extends through Deesa, Indore, Panchmarhi, Mandla, Ambikapur, Hazaribagh, and Supaul."
A low-pressure area has developed over southwest Bangladesh and adjacent Gangetic West Bengal due to a cyclonic circulation. This system is expected to intensify and shift west-northwest within the next 24 hours.
The IMD indicated that many regions in Odisha are likely to witness widespread rainfall during the upcoming three days due to this weather system.
They also noted that the intensity and coverage of the rainfall could increase, urging residents to stay vigilant and avoid areas prone to flooding.
Rainfall is anticipated to persist until June 19, prompting authorities to remain prepared for any potential emergencies.
