Meet the Trailblazing Researcher from Odisha Honored in Canada for AI in Agriculture

Recognition for Innovative Agricultural Research

Swagatika Priyadarsini Mohanty, hailing from Balikhanda in the Purushottampur panchayat of Balasore district, has received an invitation to Toronto, Canada, where she will be honored for her pioneering research in agricultural science.


Currently engaged in her research at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, Mohanty is being recognized for her innovative approach to disease management in groundnut farming through the application of artificial intelligence (AI).


Her research has garnered significant praise from the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE), a renowned organization based in Toronto, which has formally invited her for this recognition.


A graduate of Navodaya Vidyalaya in Bagudi, Mohanty furthered her education at OUAT Bhubaneswar before joining IIT Kharagpur. She is the daughter of Khagendra Mohanty, a teacher, and Sarojini Mohanty, a homemaker.


Swagatika attributes her achievements to the mentorship of her educators and the encouragement she received from her grandparents and maternal family.
