Kannappa Hits Theatres with Strong Opening

The highly anticipated Telugu film Kannappa has officially premiered in cinemas. This movie draws inspiration from the legendary figure of Kannappa, a devoted follower of Lord Shiva, with Vishnu Manchu portraying the lead character.

As reported by industry sources, Kannappa achieved a remarkable opening, grossing Rs 11 crore in India and netting Rs 9.35 crore on its first day. Additionally, it garnered Rs 2 crore from international markets, bringing its total earnings for Day 1 to Rs 13 crore globally. However, the film experienced a decline on Day 2, earning approximately Rs 5.94 crore net in India.

Despite this drop, Kannappa has accumulated a total of Rs 15.29 crore net domestically, positioning it to potentially become Vishnu Manchu’s highest-grossing film, surpassing the lifetime earnings of his previous works.

The film is available in five languages: Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi, with the strongest audience response coming from Telugu-speaking regions.

For Vishnu Manchu, this success is particularly meaningful, especially after his earlier films, Ginna and Mosagallu, struggled to make an impact at the box office, each failing to reach Rs 1 crore in total earnings. His last significant release was 2014’s Rowdy, which opened with Rs 3 crore and concluded its first week with around Rs 11 crore.

Kannappa features a talented cast, including Mohan Babu, R. Sarathkumar, Arpit Ranka, Brahmanandam, Brahmaji, Siva Balaji, Kaushal Manda, Rahul Madhav, Devaraj, Mukesh Rishi, Raghu Babu, Preity Mukhundhan, and Madhoo.

Director Mukesh Kumar Singh shared his vision for the film, stating, “Kannappa is not just a narrative; it serves as a homage to faith, devotion, and the transformative power of belief. Each scene has been carefully designed to bring this legendary story to life, appealing to contemporary audiences while honoring its origins. We are thrilled for viewers to witness the magnificence of Kannappa.”

The film also features notable appearances by Mohanlal as Kirata, Prabhas as Rudra, Akshay Kumar as Lord Shiva, and Kajal Aggarwal as Goddess Parvati.
