Jaishankar Highlights 'Atmanirbharta' as Essential for Global Resilience
Emphasizing Self-Reliance in Tourism
On Wednesday, S. Jaishankar, the Union External Affairs Minister, articulated that 'Atmanirbharta' embodies the approach needed to navigate global uncertainties. Speaking at the FAITH (Federation of Associations in Indian Tourism & Hospitality) Conclave, he remarked, 'India's message to the world is becoming increasingly robust, complemented by efforts to simplify travel within the country.'
During his address at the Conclave 2025, he highlighted India's growing stature as a preferred travel destination. The event gathered leaders from the national government and corporate sectors in tourism and hospitality to set specific goals for Indian tourism leading up to 2030, which will contribute to the Vision 2047 of a developed India as envisioned by the Prime Minister.
Jaishankar stated, 'In unpredictable times, it is crucial to be self-reliant. Atmanirbharta not only helps us manage global challenges but also fortifies our self-assurance and resilience, laying the groundwork for a developed India.'
E-Visas and Enhanced Travel Experience
He further noted that the introduction of e-visas has significantly improved the experience for tourists visiting India. 'The messaging of India is indeed stronger, and we are also making travel within the country much more convenient. Over the past decade, our airports have doubled in number,' he added.
Cultural Significance in Tourism
Jaishankar also underscored the cultural importance of India in the global tourism landscape, mentioning that even the iconic hideout of Gabbar Singh from the famous Indian film can now be visited, thanks to a newly developed resort in that area.
Navigating a Volatile Era
He concluded by acknowledging the current volatile and uncertain global environment, shaped by the ongoing impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, various conflicts, and trade disruptions. 'Countries with a strong foundation will navigate these challenges more effectively,' he stated.
