Upcoming Expressway Projects

Several expressway initiatives are set to be unveiled for public use soon, with one notable project being the Magpur-Mumbai Expressway, popularly referred to as 'Samruddhi Mahamarg'.

Inauguration Details

On June 5, Maharashtra's Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will officially inaugurate the last segment of this expressway, which spans a total length of 701 kilometers.

Final Section Connectivity

The concluding section will connect Igatpuri in Nashik to Amane in Thane. The opening of this route will enhance connectivity and signify the project's completion.

Traffic Opening Confirmation

The route is confirmed to be opened for traffic on the same day, as stated by Anil Gaikwad, managing director of the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), along with officials from the Chief Minister's Office. Gaikwad noted that all construction work for this final phase has been completed.

About the Samruddhi Mahamarg

Constructed at a cost of ₹1,182 crore, this stretch is co-financed by MSRDC and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). It features three major interchanges located at Igatpuri, Kutghar in Shahapur, and Amane near Thane. Additionally, this section includes India's longest road tunnel, which measures 7.8 kilometers through the Kasara Ghat.

Significant Improvements

This new segment represents a substantial upgrade over the existing Mumbai-Nashik route. Previously, drivers had to navigate 450 meters through the narrow and winding Kasara Ghat roads. The expressway now reduces this distance to just 160 meters, cutting travel time between Igatpuri and Amane from 90 minutes to only 40 minutes.
