Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia Inspires at IIIT-Delhi Tech Fest

During his address at the IIIT-Delhi Tech Fest ESYA, Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region Jyotiraditya M. Scindia encouraged the youth to take the lead in shaping India's next chapter as a global guru. He highlighted India's rich legacy as a center of knowledge, referencing the contributions of Aryabhata, advancements in medical science and surgery, and the historical allure of Nalanda and Takshashila, stating that the quest for knowledge is embedded in our DNA. He noted that even Harvard's largest library pales in comparison to Nalanda's legacy. This spark of knowledge still resides within us.

Scindia described the tech fest as a platform for realizing bold dreams, emphasizing that the upliftment of India rests on the shoulders of its youth. He reiterated the significance of AI in technology, stating that while IT transformed the landscape 40 years ago, AI continues to do so today. However, he stressed that the goal is not merely to create AI but to develop responsible AI that elevates humanity rather than dominating it. The minister also shed light on India's growing leadership in cutting-edge technologies.

The Telecommunications Technology Development Fund (TTDF) has already invested in over 120 future projects, including quantum computing, terahertz communication, bio-nano systems, indigenous chipsets, and encrypted routers. He confirmed India's ambition to emerge as a global leader in 6G and contribute at least 10 percent to global patents by 2030, with students at the heart of this ambitious goal.

Scindia reminded students that India's progress is rooted in its civilizational values: "We are a nation that has never initiated war, believing in Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam." He urged students to devise solutions for farmers awaiting precision agriculture, children learning in digital classrooms, and patients relying on telehealth in smaller towns. Addressing future innovators studying abroad, he appealed for them to study at the best universities and work in top laboratories, but to return home with their knowledge and ambitions, transforming brain drain into brain gain to restore India as the golden bird.
