Itanagar, June 30: Arunachal Pradesh has made remarkable advancements in enhancing educational access, with the secondary school dropout rate now at 11.7% and achieving a 100% adjusted net enrolment rate at the elementary level, as stated by Chief Minister Pema Khandu.
During a discussion on the educational reforms under his administration's initiative, “PEMA 3.0 Year of Reforms and Growth,” Khandu noted a significant enhancement in the pupil-teacher ratio, which currently stands at 11:1, significantly better than the national average of 24:1.
In a social media update on Sunday, he remarked, "These achievements demonstrate our dedication to providing inclusive and equitable quality education for everyone."
Khandu also announced that Arunachal Pradesh has progressed from being classified as an "Aspirant" to a "Performer" state in the NITI Aayog's SDG India Index 2024, specifically under Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education).
The SDG India Index, created by NITI Aayog, is the main instrument for monitoring both national and regional advancements regarding the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
This index assesses the performance of states and union territories based on 113 indicators across 16 goals, providing a detailed overview of their SDG accomplishments.
It is crucial for pinpointing strengths and weaknesses, enabling data-driven policy actions, and promoting collaboration among states to expedite SDG implementation throughout India.
The chief minister credited the enhancement in educational metrics to ongoing reforms and effective grassroots execution.
