Apple has confirmed that it is investigating an issue affecting the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 models in an internal memo shared with Apple's authorized service providers.

"Some customers may report that their Apple Watch Series 9 or Apple Watch Ultra 2 are experiencing erratic touches on their displays," the memo, obtained by MacRumors , says. This issue can lead to unexpected behavior in some Apple Watch models without any user interaction. This can include unwanted phone calls, opening or closing apps without prompts, or difficulty entering a device passcode.

In an internal memo, Apple described the issue as potentially causing the screens of affected watches to "jump randomly" or display other unprompted actions. There is no current indication of how widespread the problem may be, or whether it stems from a hardware defect or software bug.

However, the company recommends that users make sure their Apple Watch is running the latest watchOS version, which means a software fix is possible. Apple has not confirmed a timeline for resolution or commented on whether faulty hardware may be contributing to the problem.

Currently, Apple has informed technicians at authorized service providers to refrain from repairing affected devices while the investigation is ongoing.

A suggested workaround for users who encounter the issue is to force restart their Apple Watch. You can do this by pressing and holding the Digital Crown and Side button together for at least 10 seconds or until the Apple logo is displayed. Since Apple is aware of this issue, we can expect an update to fix it very soon.
