Adani Group Launches India's First Off-Grid 5 MW Green Hydrogen Pilot Plant in Kutch

Innovative Green Hydrogen Production in India

On Monday, Adani New Industries Limited (ANIL) unveiled India's inaugural off-grid 5 MW Green Hydrogen Pilot Plant located in Kutch, Gujarat. This facility operates entirely on solar energy and is equipped with a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), allowing it to function independently from the grid, according to a company announcement. This marks a significant advancement in decentralized hydrogen production powered by renewable energy.

The pilot plant features a fully automated, closed-loop electrolyser system that adapts to real-time renewable energy fluctuations, providing operational flexibility. This is particularly crucial for managing the variability associated with solar energy, while maintaining high standards of efficiency, safety, and performance.

This development underscores the Adani Group's dedication to innovation and sustainability, positioning it as a leader in the burgeoning green hydrogen sector. It aligns with India's goal to establish itself as a global leader in green hydrogen production and sets a precedent for renewable energy applications in challenging industrial sectors.

The pilot plant also acts as a proof of concept for ANIL's forthcoming Green Hydrogen Hub in Mundra, Gujarat, which is expected to play a pivotal role in India's transition to a low-carbon economy. Green hydrogen is anticipated to be essential in reducing carbon emissions in industries such as fertilizers, refining, and heavy transportation, contributing to global net-zero objectives.
