Tata Altroz Safety Innovations

Tata has made significant strides in the development of the new Altroz, recently releasing a video that highlights the vehicle's safety capabilities during crash tests. Although Bharat NCAP has not yet published official safety ratings, Tata has utilized its crash tests to demonstrate the innovative safety features integrated into the Altroz. These enhancements include the extensive use of high-strength steel, reinforced chassis joints, and the inclusion of six airbags as standard across all variants.

Engine Options and Potential Ratings

In addition to its safety features, Tata has maintained a competitive edge by offering a diesel engine option for the Altroz. The potential for a five-star safety rating could further solidify the car's position as a leader in its segment.

Crash Test Highlights

The video showcases various crash tests, starting with the Front Offset Deformable Barrier Test. During this test, the stability of the A pillar was noted, showing no flex under impact. The vehicle also demonstrated a stable underbody, equipped with seatbelts featuring pre-tensioners, load limiters, and crash-locking tongues. Throughout the tests, airbags deployed at the appropriate moments, ensuring minimal impact risk within the cabin, even during the side mobile barrier test.

Additional Safety Features

Tata has also introduced other safety innovations, such as a reinforced firewall and pedal blockers to mitigate foot injuries. In the side pole crash test, although the chassis flexed, the presence of curtain airbags and a reinforced side structure helped maintain vehicle stability. These tests may have been conducted in-house by Tata, and a comprehensive Bharat NCAP rating could be forthcoming.
