Changes to Emergency Quota Submission Guidelines

New Delhi: The Ministry of Railways has revised the deadlines for submitting requests for the emergency quota, following its recent policy to finalize the reservation chart eight hours prior to a train's departure.

According to a circular released by the ministry on Tuesday, requests for the emergency quota for trains scheduled to depart between midnight and 2 PM must be submitted to the EQ cell by noon on the day before travel.

For trains leaving between 2:01 PM and 11:59 PM, requests should be sent by 4 PM on the previous day.

The ministry has made it clear that any requests received on the actual day of the train's departure will not be processed.

On Sundays and public holidays, requests for accommodations that fall under the emergency quota must be submitted during office hours on the last working day before the holiday.

The circular noted that the Railway Board's reservation cell handles numerous requests from VIPs, railway officials, and senior personnel from various departments.

The ministry emphasized that efforts are made to allocate the emergency quota fairly and judiciously.

Officials have been urged to comply with these new timings to ensure timely allotments and avoid delays in train departures, which can cause significant inconvenience to passengers.

Additionally, the forwarding authority is requested to verify the authenticity of the individuals making requests and to strictly follow the existing guidelines for emergency quota allocations.
