High-Level Delegation Reviews Major Hydroelectric Project in Arunachal Pradesh
Delegation Visits Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project
Itanagar, July 21: A prominent delegation, headed by Pankaj Agarwal, the Secretary for Power in the Government of India, visited the Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project, which boasts a capacity of 2000 MW, located at Dollungmukh on the Arunachal Pradesh-Assam border. This visit took place on Sunday as the project approaches its commissioning phase.
Agarwal was joined by NHPC's CMD Rajendra Prasad Goyal and Director of Projects Sanjay Kumar Singh. The team conducted an on-site evaluation to ensure that the commissioning of this significant project proceeds smoothly and on schedule.
The delegation received a warm welcome from local MLA Rotom Tebin, ZPM (Dollungmukh) Nido Aruni Bini, along with respected senior citizens from the area.
Tebin emphasized the strategic and economic importance of the Subansiri project and provided insights into the forthcoming 1700 MW Kamala Hydroelectric Project in Kamle district, another crucial initiative by NHPC. He urged the central government to prioritize the Tamen-Dollungmukh Road Project, which he deemed essential for the successful implementation of the Kamala project and for enhancing regional connectivity in Kamle.
In reply, Secretary Agarwal assured that the Ministry of Power would collaborate with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways to expedite the road project.
Additionally, on Saturday, Agarwal visited the NHPC Siang Basin Projects office in Pasighat, East Siang, to assess the progress of significant hydro initiatives in the North East.
