Apple's Foldable iPhone Set for 2026 Launch: Key Details Revealed

Anticipated Innovations from Apple
Apple enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the company's next innovations following the iPhone 17 release. Among the most anticipated products is the Apple Foldable. According to a recent update from Ming Chi Kuo, a well-known analyst of Apple's supply chain, production of the foldable device by Foxconn is expected to commence in the third quarter of 2025, potentially extending into early October. Apple aims to unveil this device as part of the iPhone 18 lineup in the fall of 2026.
Specifications Still Under Review
As the September/October 2025 timeline approaches, Apple has yet to finalize the specifications for the foldable device. However, it has been confirmed that Apple will manufacture the foldable display in-house.
Previous Speculations on the Apple Foldable
Earlier rumors suggested that the Apple Foldable would feature a 5.5-inch screen when closed and expand to 7.8 inches when opened. The design is expected to resemble that of Samsung's Galaxy Fold rather than the Galaxy Flip. When unfolded, the device could be as thin as 4.5 mm and approximately 9.5 mm when folded.
Apple has always prioritized design, and to meet fan expectations, significant effort has been directed towards creating a foldable hinge that minimizes visible creases. The device is likely to incorporate an under-display camera and a Touch ID mechanism instead of Face ID due to spatial limitations. The anticipated price range for the foldable iPhone is between $2,000 and $2,500, although this may be adjusted in light of recent tariffs affecting production in China.
Production Insights and Future Plans
Kuo has also indicated that Samsung is expected to manufacture around seven to eight million foldable panels for the iPhone in 2026. While current rumors suggest a 2026 launch, Kuo cautions that Apple's plans could change, especially as production ramps up.
