Women Can Worship Lord Hanuman: Important Guidelines to Follow

Tuesdays are dedicated to Lord Hanuman, a day when special prayers and rituals are performed in his honor. It is believed that worshiping him on this day can alleviate suffering, illness, and misfortunes. In Hinduism, Lord Hanuman is revered as a deity who is still physically present on Earth, known for alleviating the troubles of his devotees, earning him the title of 'Sankat Mochan' or the remover of obstacles.

Blessings from Hanuman and Other Deities

Devotees who worship Hanuman are also said to receive blessings from Lord Ram, Lord Shiva, and Shani Dev. Those suffering from the adverse effects of Shani's Sade Sati and Dhaiya are encouraged to worship Hanuman for relief. Traditionally, it has been believed that only men can perform Hanuman's worship due to his status as a Brahmachari, which implies that women should not touch him.

However, women are also permitted to worship Lord Hanuman, provided they adhere to certain guidelines. If these rules are not followed, it is believed that the worship may not yield the desired results and could lead to displeasure from the deity. Here are some essential points for women to consider while performing Hanuman's worship:

1. Women should avoid touching the idol of Hanuman during worship. Additionally, they should not touch his feet, as he respects women and considers them akin to mothers, similar to Mata Sita.

2. It is inappropriate for women to bathe Hanuman's idol with Panchamrit, as this is considered disrespectful to a Brahmachari.

3. Women should refrain from offering clothes, chola, or sacred threads to Hanuman's idol. These offerings should be made by men.

4. When expressing reverence to Hanuman, women should not bow their heads. It is said that Hanuman, being a Brahmachari, regards all women as mothers and prefers not to see them bowing before him. Instead, they can join their hands in prayer.

5. Women should not offer sindoor during worship, nor should they recite the Bajrang Baan or offer a sacred thread.

6. During menstruation, women should avoid reciting the Hanuman Chalisa and are advised not to remember Lord Hanuman, as it is believed that this could lead to his displeasure.
