Women Can Worship Hanuman: Important Guidelines to Follow
Significance of Tuesday for Hanuman Worship
Tuesdays are dedicated to Lord Hanuman, a day when special prayers and rituals are performed in his honor. It is believed that worshiping him on this day helps alleviate suffering, illness, and misfortunes. In Hinduism, Hanuman is revered as a deity who is still physically present on Earth, known for resolving the troubles of his devotees, earning him the title of 'Sankat Mochan'.
Blessings from Hanuman and Other Deities
Devotees who worship Hanuman are said to receive blessings not only from him but also from Lord Ram, Lord Shiva, and Shani Dev. Those suffering from the effects of Shani's Sade Sati and Dhaiyya are encouraged to worship Hanuman for relief. Traditionally, it has been believed that only men can perform Hanuman's worship due to his status as a Brahmachari, which implies that women should not touch him.
Women Can Also Worship Hanuman
Contrary to popular belief, women are permitted to worship Hanuman, but they must adhere to specific guidelines during the rituals. If these rules are not followed, it is believed that the worship may not yield the desired results and could lead to displeasure from the deity.
Guidelines for Women Worshiping Hanuman
1. Women should avoid touching the idol of Hanuman during worship. Additionally, they should not touch his feet, as he respects women and considers them akin to mothers, like Sita.
2. It is inappropriate for women to bathe Hanuman's idol with Panchamrit, as this is seen as disrespectful to a Brahmachari.
3. Women should refrain from offering clothes or sacred threads to Hanuman's idol; these should be presented by men.
4. When expressing reverence, women should not bow their heads before Hanuman. It is said that while he may bow to women, they should not bow to him, as he regards all women as mothers. A simple gesture of joining hands in prayer is acceptable.
5. Women should not offer sindoor during worship, nor should they recite Bajrang Baan or offer sacred threads.
6. During menstruation, women are advised against reciting Hanuman Chalisa or invoking his name, as it is believed that this could lead to his displeasure.
