The Significance of Ram Laxman Dwadashi

King Dasharatha's Observance of the Fast
Mythologically, during the Treta Yuga, King Dasharatha of Ayodhya performed this fast with deep devotion to be blessed with children. It is said that Lord Vishnu incarnated as Shri Ram, Dasharatha's eldest son, while Sheshnag manifested as Lakshmana due to the king's fasting and worship. Legend has it that without this fast, Dasharatha's Putrakashti Yagya would not have succeeded. This is why devotees have continued to observe this fast with faith and respect over the years.
