Vaibhav Lakshmi Puja Guidelines

In Hindu tradition, Fridays are dedicated to worshipping Goddess Lakshmi, the deity of wealth and prosperity. On this day, devotees perform rituals honoring the Vaibhav Lakshmi form of the goddess. Religious texts suggest that those who observe the Vaibhav Lakshmi fast with devotion and adherence to the prescribed rules will never face a shortage of wealth and will experience peace and happiness in their homes.

Key Considerations During Worship

While the Vaibhav Lakshmi fast is highly rewarding, it comes with strict rules. A minor mistake during the rituals can nullify the benefits of the fast.

Importance of Red Flowers

According to ancient scriptures, red flowers are particularly dear to Goddess Lakshmi. Therefore, when performing the Vaibhav Lakshmi puja on Fridays, it is essential to offer red flowers, which can be red roses or hibiscus. The lotus flower is considered the most important offering, but if unavailable, roses can be used instead. After the puja, place the rose in your wealth area and replace it daily.

Worship of Shri Yantra

Scriptures state that the worship of Goddess Lakshmi is incomplete without the Shri Yantra. Many people merely light a lamp in front of her image, but it is crucial to meditate on the Shri Yantra and the eight forms of Goddess Lakshmi.

Avoiding Certain Foods

On Fridays, refrain from using garlic, onions, or any non-vegetarian food in your home. Additionally, speaking ill of others or creating discord is considered inauspicious on this day.

Steps to Observe Vaibhav Lakshmi Fast

1. Bathe in the morning, wear clean clothes, and take a vow for the fast. 2. Wearing red or white attire is recommended. You may consume fruits throughout the day. 3. In the evening, bathe again and place a red cloth on an altar facing east. 4. Set up an idol or image of Goddess Lakshmi along with the Shri Yantra on this altar. 5. Place a handful of rice in front of the image and position a copper pot filled with water on top. 6. On the pot, place a bowl containing silver coins or any gold/silver jewelry. 7. Offer items like roli, moli, vermilion, flowers, and rice pudding to Goddess Lakshmi. 8. After the puja, recite the Vaibhav Lakshmi story. 9. Chant the Vaibhav Lakshmi mantra as much as possible, and conclude with the aarti of Goddess Lakshmi. 10. You may eat food after the evening puja.
