Update on Zubeen Garg Case


Guwahati, March 21: In the ongoing case concerning the death of Zubeen Garg, Shyamkanu Mahanta, one of the accused, has requested additional time to submit his discharge application.


The Sessions Judge has granted him an extension until the next hearing date, which is set for March 30.


During today's proceedings, the Special Public Prosecutor concluded his arguments regarding the charges against all accused individuals, as well as addressing the pending discharge petitions submitted by them.


Discharge applications were also submitted by other accused, including Paresh Baishya, Nandeswar Borah, Sandipon Garg, Shekhar Jyoti Goswami, Siddhartha Sharma, and Amritprava Mahanta.


The hearing today was focused on the Special Public Prosecutor's arguments concerning the framing of charges, alongside the defense's response. All accused were presented via video conference from jail custody and will remain in custody until the next hearing.
