Itanagar, Aug 6: In a remarkable display of solidarity, the Ziro Royal Enfielders (ZRE), a motorcycle club from Arunachal Pradesh's Lower Subansiri district, embarked on a humanitarian mission to assist families affected by floods in Assam. They donated essential supplies through the Sukafa Riders Motorcycle Club located in Nazira, Sivasagar district.
A Tata Mobile truck loaded with relief items departed from Ziro, joined by an Isuzu truck and two private vehicles carrying additional supplies from Itanagar, ensuring that aid reached the flood-impacted areas promptly.
This initiative represents the second phase of ZRE's humanitarian efforts. Collection drives held in Ziro and Itanagar on July 29 and 30 saw volunteers gather new and reusable essential items, including drinking water, phenyl, sanitary pads, clothing, towels, bedsheets, utensils, footwear, undergarments, and other daily necessities.
ZRE chief Nending Ommo expressed that this initiative was motivated by the immense support received from the people of Assam during the recent flash floods in Keyi Panyor district.
"Almost half of the donations collected during our online relief drive for Keyi Panyor came from individuals and motorcycle clubs in Assam. Their kindness during our challenging times deeply moved us. When Assam faces severe floods, we feel compelled to support them. This campaign is our humble way of showing gratitude and solidarity," he stated.
ZRE vice chief Hage Duyu emphasized that the essence of motorcycling transcends geographical and political divides.
"Motorcycling embodies brotherhood. Despite our differences, humanity should unite us. Through this initiative, we wanted to convey to the people of Assam that Arunachal Pradesh stands with them during this challenging period," he remarked.
General-in-command Duyu Deilyang noted that the club opted to deliver the relief materials personally, despite challenging road conditions, to reinforce their commitment to the affected communities.
He also acknowledged the contributions of various riding clubs, including Royal Arunachal Riders, Mountain Folks, Eastern Hill Riders, Arunachal Riders Consortium, Arunachal Bullet Club, Decent Souls, and Royal Gorkha Riders, for their support in this campaign.
Ommo mentioned that the relief supplies were handed over to the Sukafa Riders Motorcycle Club due to their active role in relief efforts and their capability to ensure that assistance reached those in need.
The initiative also garnered support from renowned solo rider Monroe Phukan of Sivasagar.
David and Sanjay, the chief and secretary of the Sukafa Riders Motorcycle Club, expressed their gratitude to the Ziro Royal Enfielders for this thoughtful initiative, stating that it has further strengthened the bond between the riding communities of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam.
