Celebrating World Football Day
In honor of World Football Day, Zinc Football Academy (ZFA) reaffirmed its dedication to advancing football in India. Over the past year, the academy has positively influenced the lives of more than 1,400 young boys and girls, focusing on nurturing grassroots talent and supporting the country's football ambitions.
A Season of Notable Achievements
This season marks a significant milestone in ZFA's history. The academy secured its third title in the Rajasthan State Men's League, achieved with one of the youngest teams in the league, showcasing its effective development strategy. On a national level, ZFA's Under-18 squad finished as runners-up in the AIFF Under-18 Elite League, establishing itself as the second-best Under-18 team in India. Additionally, the Zawar academy made its debut in the I-League 3, one of India's premier football leagues.
The girls' team also had an impressive season, winning titles at the Doon Cup, DAV Under-19 Nationals, and Asmita Football League, while currently leading the points table in the Rajasthan Senior Women's League, highlighting the rapid growth of women's football at ZFA.
Creating Futures Through Comprehensive Development
Guided by the philosophy, "Football Creates Dreams. Zinc Football Academy Builds Futures," ZFA has transformed from a grassroots initiative into a professionally managed football ecosystem. The academy emphasizes holistic development, combining top-notch infrastructure, structured coaching, and technology-driven performance analysis to cultivate the next generation of Indian footballers. Beyond athletic training, ZFA ensures that every player's education is prioritized, offering full scholarships.
Since its establishment in 2018, Zinc Football Academy, rated AIFF 3-star, has consistently produced players for India's age-group teams, enhancing the national talent pool. Recently, it launched India's first residential football academy for girls, welcoming an inaugural group of 20 players from rural areas.
Spotlight on Players: From Zawar to National Recognition
Mohammed Kaif, a product of the academy, made history by becoming the first player from Rajasthan in over 40 years to represent India, exemplifying the effectiveness of ZFA's development pathway. He expressed gratitude, stating, "I will always be thankful to Hindustan Zinc and Zinc Football. My seven years in Zawar, learning under top coaches at a world-class facility, were pivotal in shaping my career."
On the women's side, Geet Meena, a local talent from Zawar Mines, embodies the academy's grassroots success. She began her journey at Zinc Football Community Schools and later earned a spot in ZFA's inaugural girls' batch through trials. Along with her, four other girls from Zawar - Minu Kumari Meena, Bindiya Meena, Manisha Patel, and Savita Kalbeliya - also secured their places, showcasing the academy's commitment to nurturing local talent. Geet remarked, "We are grateful to Hindustan Zinc for providing us this platform to showcase our talent. Initially, we trained at the Zinc Football community schools, and now it feels even more special to inspire many children in our community that girls can dream too. This is just the beginning. We aspire to represent India."
Promoting Youth and Inclusivity
ZFA has established itself as a prominent force in youth football, consistently performing well in national competitions like the AIFF Youth Leagues. The academy's growing reputation is reflected in the success stories of players such as Sahil Poonia, Prem Hansdak, and Rajrup Sarkar, who have represented India at various age levels.
Central to this journey is a commitment to inclusivity and opportunity. Zinc Football Academy has opened its doors to talented girls from rural and underrepresented communities, actively encouraging their involvement in football. By providing access to professional training and competitive experiences, ZFA continues to bridge the gap between raw talent and national aspirations.
