YSRCP Chief Criticizes Andhra CM Over Law and Order Issues

YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has launched a fierce attack on Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. He accused the state government of a complete breakdown of law and order, claiming that a reign of terror is prevailing, with political vendettas being directed against the opposition. In a detailed statement shared on the social media platform 'X', Reddy raised concerns regarding the recent police raids conducted at midnight and the subsequent arrests of party leaders.

 

Reddy specifically highlighted the case of Alur MLA Virupakshi. He stated that under Naidu's administration, the law and order situation has deteriorated significantly. Attackers receive protection while victims face criminal charges: this is a clear case of political revenge. He questioned, 'What is truly happening in Andhra Pradesh today? If the assailants belong to the ruling party, they are shielded. If the victims are from the YSR Congress Party, they are charged with crimes. Even representatives who support the victims are targeted. Those who dare to question the government are arrested, and those holding the government accountable face midnight police raids and have their doors broken down. Is this democracy? Is this justice? Is this the rule of law?'

 

The YSRCP leader also questioned the necessity of a large police presence at the home of a sitting MLA early in the morning. He asked, 'Is Alur's BC MLA Virupakshi a terrorist? What justifies deploying such a massive police force to raid the home of a democratically elected MLA at 2:45 AM? The manner in which police broke down the doors to arrest MLA Virupakshi and his son Chandrashekar raises a fundamental question: Is there still rule of law in this state?'

 

Discussing the incidents surrounding the arrests, Jagan alleged that the MLA was targeted for defending a party worker. The post mentioned that TDP workers allegedly attacked the home of a YSRCP leader in the Chipagiri mandal's Nemakallu village. Fearing for his life, the leader called MLA Virupakshi for protection for himself and his family. Is it a crime to respond to a call for help from a party worker? Is it a crime to support a victimized family? When Virupakshi visited the family to offer condolences, TDP workers reportedly pelted stones at them, injuring his brother, Sri Ramulu. If the law were functioning impartially, who should have been arrested - the attackers or the MLA who was assaulted? Instead, under this government, those accused of assault are given protection, while the victim is turned into an accused. Charges such as attempted murder have been filed against the MLA and YSRCP workers.
