YSR Congress Critiques Andhra Pradesh Government Over Key Issues
YSR Congress Party's Strong Criticism of Government
On Friday, members of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) launched a fierce critique against the government led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. They accused the administration of evading accountability on critical issues such as the implementation of the Super Six schemes, rising public debt, job creation, and the plight of farmers. Speaking at a media point in the assembly, YSRCP's MLC stated that the government had no answers to any questions raised in the house, whether related to the Super Six schemes, substantial debt, job creation, minimum support prices for crops, or farmer suicides, and was merely engaged in political rhetoric and blatant falsehoods.
Concerns Over Budget Allocations
YSRCP MLC Lella Appireddy pointed out that the third budget of the government lacked clarity regarding allocations for major welfare schemes. He claimed that instead of focusing on the current government's performance, ministers were spending more time blaming the previous YSRCP administration. Appireddy also mentioned that when asked about evidence of corruption related to the Heritage Dairy Syndicate (disguised as Indapur Dairy), the ruling party obstructed inquiries, and ministers fled the scene. He noted that since no questions were posed to them in the assembly, they resorted to new lies regarding Tirumala Laddu Prasadam and government orders 746 and 747.
Criticism of Budget Speech
Another YSRCP MLC, Tumati Madhav Rao, criticized Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav for turning the budget speech into a political address. He alleged that the minister falsely took credit for reducing a debt burden of ₹40,000 crores while ignoring financial management measures implemented during the YSRCP government, which included adjustments related to post-COVID-19 reserve funds. MLC Mondithoka Arun Kumar also accused Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu of rapidly increasing the state's debt despite previous promises of wealth creation.
Rising Debt and Unemployment Issues
He claimed that over the past 20 months, the government has borrowed more than ₹32 lakh crores, which he noted is approximately 95% of the debt incurred by the YSRCP government during its five-year term. Furthermore, he accused the government of failing to provide clarity on its promise to create 62 lakh jobs and offer unemployment benefits. MLC Varudu Kalyani highlighted the dire situation of farmers in the state, asserting that many farmers and agricultural laborers are committing suicide due to not receiving profitable prices for their produce.
