Judicial Custody Extended for Jyoti Malhotra

Jyoti Malhotra, a YouTuber accused of espionage for Pakistan, has been remanded to 14 days of judicial custody by a court in Hisar, Haryana. The next hearing for her case is scheduled for June 23. This marks the second instance of her being placed in judicial custody; she was previously held for 14 days following a four-day police remand that ended on May 26.

In a related incident, another YouTuber, Jasbir Singh, was arrested by Punjab police for allegedly being part of a Pakistan-backed espionage network. Reports indicate that Singh was in regular contact with Malhotra.

Connections to Pakistani Intelligence

According to Punjab police, Jasbir Singh had close ties with a Pakistani intelligence officer known as Shakir, also referred to as Jatt Randhawa, who is suspected of working for the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). Singh was reportedly in close contact with Jyoti Malhotra, who has been accused of spying for Pakistan. Following Singh's arrest, police claimed to have uncovered a 'terrorism-supported espionage network' linking him to Pakistani intelligence and military officials.

The police have alleged that the YouTuber was involved in espionage activities for the ISI.

Defense from Singh's Lawyer

On Saturday, Singh's attorney, Mohit Dhupur, spoke to reporters after meeting with his client in court. He stated, 'We spoke with Singh. There has been no mention in the media that he was an ISI agent.' The lawyer emphasized that Singh is merely a 'vlogger.' Dhupur also noted that Singh had already submitted his mobile phone and laptop to the police when summoned between May 17 and 30.
