Incident Overview

A YouTuber has been taken into custody, and a police sub-inspector is facing charges related to the suspected abduction and gang rape of a 14-year-old girl in Kanpur's Sachendi area, as reported by local authorities on Wednesday.

The alleged incident has ignited public outrage across the state, particularly after a video surfaced showing the girl accusing law enforcement of failing to act.

In response to the backlash, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Dinesh Chandra Tripathi was dismissed from his position, and Sachendi Station House Officer Vikram Singh was suspended due to alleged negligence and misrepresentation of facts.

According to police sources, the girl, who has dropped out of Class 7, was reportedly abducted around 10 PM on Monday in an SUV.

She was taken to an isolated area near a railway track, where she was allegedly assaulted for nearly two hours before being left unconscious outside her home, as per the officers' statements.

Police Commissioner Raghubir Lal informed the media that Sub-Inspector Amit Kumar Maurya and YouTuber Shivbaran Yadav were named in the initial report based on the girl's account.

While Yadav has been arrested, authorities have formed four teams to locate the fleeing sub-inspector, Lal noted.

The girl's family has accused the police of attempting to conceal the incident, claiming they were initially dismissed when they mentioned an officer's involvement.

The girl's brother alleged that police confiscated her mobile phone and delayed her return home until her statement was recorded in court.

Singh, the Sachendi Police Station's officer, was suspended for not applying the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act at the outset and for allegedly distorting facts in the case documentation.

Deenanath Mishra has been appointed to oversee the police station, while Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Kapil Dev Singh has been tasked with leading the investigation.
