Massive Youth Gathering in Guwahati

Guwahati, Mar 15: The Veterinary College Ground in Khanapara was filled with enthusiastic young supporters on Sunday as the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), the youth wing of the BJP, hosted a Yuva Shakti Samaroh in Guwahati.

This event, attended by prominent figures including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, and Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, was organized in anticipation of the upcoming Assembly elections, with the Election Commission of India set to announce the election schedule shortly.

During his address, Shah expressed optimism about the BJP's return to power in Assam, asserting that the party would achieve its 'largest ever mandate' under Sarma's leadership.

Shah urged voters to continue their support for the BJP, reiterating the party's commitment to addressing illegal immigration issues. He stated, 'The Congress has normalized infiltration, but the BJP will ensure that every illegal voter is removed from the electoral rolls. Rahul Babu can be assured that not only will their names be erased, but they will also be expelled.'

He criticized the Congress for Assam's history of violence, claiming that many young lives were lost during their governance. Shah accused Congress leaders of prioritizing their families over the welfare of the youth.

'The Congress thrives on corruption and division by supporting infiltrators, while the BJP is dedicated to development, expelling infiltrators, and safeguarding the interests of impoverished families,' he remarked.

Union Minister Sonowal, speaking at the event, emphasized the importance of youth in nation-building, noting that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, India's youth have become a formidable force.

'The progressive initiatives taken by the Prime Minister have empowered young individuals to chase their dreams and excel in various fields. However, we must remain vigilant and continue our battle against illegal immigrants to ensure Assam's development and security,' Sonowal stated.

Chief Minister Sarma highlighted the significant turnout as a reflection of the aspirations and enthusiasm of Assam's youth. 'In my political career, I have never witnessed such a large gathering of youth from across Assam. This demonstrates the energy and hopes of the younger generation,' Sarma remarked.

He also pointed out that recent peace accords have successfully reintegrated over 10,000 youths into society. 'A few years ago, we could not have envisioned that under Union Home Minister Amit Shah's leadership, six historic peace accords would be signed, leading to the disarmament of over 10,000 youths,' he added.

Sarma mentioned several major infrastructure projects in the state, including the Dhola–Sadiya Bridge, Bogibeel Bridge, and upcoming bridges connecting Jorhat and Majuli, among others.

He announced plans for Assam to have 25 medical colleges and highlighted the expansion of institutions like AIIMS and IIM, which are creating more opportunities for students.

Additionally, he discussed financial support for young entrepreneurs, stating, 'We have provided Rs 2 lakh each to one lakh youths to help them establish their businesses. Employment opportunities are now based solely on merit, eliminating the need for bribes.'

Looking forward to the Assembly elections, Sarma promised that if the BJP is re-elected for a third term, they would enhance employment and financial assistance programs.

'If we return to power, we pledge to create an additional two lakh government jobs and extend financial support to nearly 10 lakh youths to help them establish themselves,' he stated.

Sarma also addressed the government's eviction drives against alleged encroachments, stating, 'We have cleared approximately 1.5 lakh bighas of land through these drives. In the next five years, we will continue this effort to remove any land occupied by infiltrators.'
