In Titabor, local youth have taken to the streets to protest against Gaurav Gogoi's recent admission of visiting Pakistan. The demonstrators, braving the rain, expressed their anger by burning an effigy of the Lok Sabha MP and demanding an explanation for his trip. They raised concerns about the implications of such a visit, especially given Pakistan's history of hostility towards India. Protests Erupt in Titabor

Jorhat, May 30: Following Gaurav Gogoi's recent acknowledgment of his purported trip to Pakistan, protests were organized by local youth in Titabor on Thursday, expressing their discontent with the newly-appointed chief of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC).

Despite the inclement weather, demonstrators voiced their frustrations through chants and set fire to an effigy representing the Lok Sabha MP.

The youth demanded clarity regarding Gogoi's admission, questioning, “Why did our MP travel to Pakistan?” This inquiry was echoed by the Chief Minister and the citizens of Assam. After months of avoiding the topic, Gogoi's recent confession has left many feeling embarrassed, as stated by protestor Bhaskar Saikia.

As they burned the effigy, protestors expressed their concerns about Gogoi's alleged visit, emphasizing, “Pakistan has always been an adversary to India, involved in numerous attacks, including the Mumbai 26/11 and Pulwama incidents. We want to know the purpose of his visit.”

Another protestor warned that if Gogoi fails to provide an explanation, they would escalate their protests in the near future.

Interestingly, these demonstrations come just two days before Gogoi's planned visit to his constituency on Saturday.

Gogoi is expected to arrive in Jorhat on Saturday, followed by a trip to Sivasagar on Sunday, with additional visits to Nagaon and Guwahati scheduled for later dates.

This will mark Gogoi's first trip to Assam since his appointment as the new APCC chief.
