Youth in Police Uniforms Caught in Lucknow: A Case of Fraud
Incident at Charbagh Station
Dressed in crisp police uniforms adorned with three stars, a young man and woman were seen confidently walking around Charbagh Station in Lucknow. Their presence sparked conversations among onlookers about their recent job acquisition. However, the situation took a turn when the station's security personnel noticed them, leading to a shocking revelation. At their age, most individuals are still pursuing their undergraduate degrees, making their roles as inspectors highly suspicious. Upon questioning, the truth began to unfold, leaving the police in a dilemma about whether to detain or release them.
The Government Railway Police (GRP) team observed the duo at Charbagh Railway Station, noting several discrepancies in their uniforms. After monitoring them for a while, they reported their findings to the GRP Circle Officer, Namita Singh. When interrogated, the pair claimed they had been summoned to join duty at the zoo near the DGP headquarters.
Further inquiry revealed that both individuals had fallen victim to a scam. They were misled into believing they had been appointed as inspectors after paying substantial sums of money. The young man, Ajay Prakash, hails from the Sariyara area of Charwa in Kaushambi and holds a B.Sc. degree. His companion, Kalavati, also from Kaushambi, has completed her B.A. Both are just 21 years old and graduated this year.
Ajay disclosed that individuals in Kaushambi were soliciting money from youth for police inspector positions. He paid five lakh rupees, while Kalavati contributed four lakh. They received no training; instead, they were merely asked to fill out a form for the police recruitment board. They were informed in Kaushambi that they had been appointed as inspectors and were sent to Lucknow with uniforms, badges, belts, and stars. They were apprehended while searching for a rickshaw to reach Narhi. Circle Officer Amita Singh stated that an investigation is underway, and a case has been filed against them for wearing uniforms fraudulently.
