Youth Congress Protests Outside BJP MP's Home Over Controversial Remarks
Protest Against Sambit Patra's Comments
In Bhubaneswar, members of the Youth Congress organized a protest on Sunday outside the residence of BJP MP Sambit Patra in Puri, Odisha, in response to his recent comments targeting Rahul Gandhi.
The activists, brandishing posters and banners, marched to Patra's home in Kalinga Vihar, where they clashed with police who were blocking their entry, according to officials.
During a public meeting in Pipili, Patra accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of being a 'paid agent of China or Pakistan.'
He had previously made similar allegations against Gandhi in New Delhi on June 3.
Patra's remarks followed Gandhi's statement at a party event in Madhya Pradesh, where he claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had 'surrendered' after a call from former US President Donald Trump during the India-Pakistan military tensions.
In a dramatic turn, the Youth Congress brought an ambulance to the protest site, asserting that Patra's mental health was questionable.
"Patra has lost his mental balance. Previously, he claimed PM Modi is greater than Lord Jagannath. Now, he has insulted Rahul Gandhi. We are here to take him to a mental hospital," stated Ranjit Patra, the Youth Congress state president.
Another Youth Congress leader, Yashir Nawaz, accused the BJP leader of attempting to incite division and unrest in the country with his comments.
