Youth Caught in Fake Police Uniforms at Lucknow Station
Incident at Charbagh Station
Dressed in crisp uniforms adorned with three stars and shiny brown leather shoes, a young man and woman were spotted confidently walking around Lucknow's Charbagh station. Passersby were buzzing about their new jobs, but the station's security personnel were taken aback when they noticed the duo. At such a young age, most people are still pursuing their degrees, yet these two claimed to be inspectors. Upon questioning, the truth began to unravel, leaving the police in a dilemma about whether to arrest them or let them go.
The Government Railway Police (GRP) team observed the young couple in police attire, noting several discrepancies in their uniforms. After monitoring them for a while, they reported their suspicions to the GRP Circle Officer, Namita Singh. When interrogated, the pair claimed they had been summoned to join duty at the zoo near the DGP headquarters.
Further questioning revealed that the two were victims of a scam, having been deceived into wearing the uniforms. They had traveled from Kaushambi to Lucknow by train, and while at Charbagh station, they were seen asking a rickshaw driver for directions. Their youthful appearance raised suspicions among the GRP officers, leading Inspector Nityanand Singh to initiate an inquiry. Circle Officer Amita Singh arrived shortly after to assist.
During the investigation, it was discovered that the young man, Ajay Prakash, hailed from the Charwa police station area in Kaushambi and had completed his B.Sc. His companion, Kalawati, also from Kaushambi, had recently graduated with a B.A. Both were 21 years old. Ajay revealed that individuals in Kaushambi were soliciting money from youths to secure positions as inspectors. He had paid five lakh rupees, while Kalawati had given four lakh. They had not received any training; instead, they were merely told to fill out a form for the police recruitment board. They were misled into believing they had been appointed as inspectors and sent to Lucknow with uniforms, badges, belts, and stars.
While searching for a rickshaw to Narhi, they were apprehended. Circle Officer Amita Singh confirmed that an investigation is underway, and both individuals have been charged with wearing uniforms fraudulently.
