Rising Star in Yogasana Sports


Hamirpur - Seventeen-year-old Yashovardhan Atri, a Class XII student at Him Academy Public School, Vikas Nagar, is making waves in the world of yogasana sports. His remarkable journey, marked by numerous medals from local to international competitions, has brought immense pride to his family, coaches, school, and the state of Himachal Pradesh.


Over the past nine years, Yashovardhan has shown exceptional dedication and skill, participating in events organized by the School Games Federation of India (SGFI), Bharat Yogasana, and the Yoga Federation of India (YFI). In the 2025–26 season, he achieved a stunning gold medal at the State School Games (14–19 age group), completed a hat-trick of golds at the Bharat Yogasana State Championship, and secured another gold at the YFI State Championship, totaling five gold medals in one season.


At the national level, he showcased his talent at the SGFI Games in Kolkata (U-19) and the 6th Junior National Yogasana Championship in Vijayawada (U-18), where he reached the finals and ranked among the top four competitors. His impressive performance continued at the 50th YFI National Championship.


On the international front, Yashovardhan proudly represented India at the 10th Asian Yogasana Sports Championship in Singapore (2025), where he earned a bronze medal, further elevating the nation's status in the sport.


Reflecting on his journey, Yashovardhan mentioned that he dedicates 3–4 hours daily to practice under the guidance of his coaches, with aspirations of winning medals for India at the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games in the future.


His father, Narendra Atri, a notable athlete and the current Vice President of the Himachal Pradesh Olympic Association, has been a significant source of motivation and support throughout his journey.


Yashovardhan’s accomplishments have positioned him as a role model for the youth, promoting awareness about yogasana and inspiring others to embrace discipline, health, and excellence through this ancient practice.
