The Story of Emmanuel Tulo

Emmanuel Tulo, a 19-year-old from Liberia, works as a motorcycle taxi driver to support himself. His earnings are barely enough to cover his daily expenses. One day, he stumbled upon a bag filled with cash on the roadside, containing 38 lakhs in Liberian and American currency.

Given his financial struggles, Tulo could have easily kept the money, which would have transformed his life and alleviated many of his hardships. Instead, he told his aunt that he would return the money if a public announcement was made about it. Despite facing ridicule and pressure from others to keep the cash, Tulo remained steadfast in his commitment to honesty.

A Reward for Honesty

Unbeknownst to Tulo, a significant reward awaited him for his integrity. Upon returning the money, he gained international fame. His honesty even impressed Liberia's President, George Weah, who awarded him 8 lakhs and facilitated his admission to the country's most prestigious school. Additionally, an American college offered him a full scholarship for his graduation studies.

A local media owner also gifted Tulo some cash, contributed by viewers and listeners who were moved by his honesty. The individual to whom Tulo returned the money also rewarded him with 1 lakh. Emmanuel lost his father at the age of nine and lived with his aunt, having to drop out of school to drive a motorcycle taxi.

Thanks to his integrity, Emmanuel Tulo now has the opportunity to continue his education. He will first complete his secondary schooling, which will take about six years, allowing him to graduate by the age of 25. His aspiration is to study accounting at university, contributing to his country's economy.
