Young Cricketers Celebrate First India Call-Ups Ahead of Afghanistan Test
Excitement for the Upcoming Test Match
Three promising cricketers, spin bowling all-rounder Harsh Dubey, all-rounder Manav Suthar, and pacer Gurnoor Brar, have expressed their joy upon receiving their first call-ups to represent India in the upcoming one-off Test against Afghanistan.
The match is set to take place in New Chandigarh starting this Saturday. Although this fixture is not part of the ICC World Test Championship, the young talents have been recognized for their outstanding performances in domestic cricket.
Harsh Dubey: 'A Special Moment'
In a video shared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Harsh Dubey referred to his selection as a significant milestone, emphasizing that every cricketer dreams of playing for their country. He mentioned, "It took me a few days to fully realize that my name was announced."
Dubey, who played for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in this year's IPL, took eight wickets in eight matches with an average of 28.50. In his first-class career, he has claimed 133 wickets across 27 games at an impressive average of 23.26, including best figures of 6/36, nine five-wicket hauls, and two ten-wicket hauls. He has also scored 1,027 runs in 44 innings at an average of 25.65, featuring nine fifties.
Manav Suthar: 'A Dream Come True'
Manav Suthar expressed that receiving his first Test call-up is a dream realized, stating, "This is my biggest achievement. Playing a Test for India is an incredible feeling."
The all-rounder from Rajasthan has taken 129 wickets in 29 first-class matches at an average of 25.76, with best figures of 8/33, including six five-wicket hauls and three ten-wicket hauls. He has also accumulated 945 runs in 48 innings at an average of 25.54, including one century and six fifties, with a top score of 120. In the current season with Gujarat Titans (GT), he has taken two wickets in four matches at an average of 34.00.
Gurnoor Brar: 'Motivated to Give My Best'
Gurnoor Brar shared his enthusiasm about the opportunity to wear the Indian jersey and train with some of the nation's best players. He expressed his determination to seize this chance and perform at his best, saying, "I want to give my best while practicing with top Indian players."
In his first-class career, Gurnoor has taken 52 wickets in 18 matches at an average of 27.30, including three four-wicket hauls and one five-wicket haul, with best figures of 5/14.
