Yogi Adityanath Meets PM Modi to Discuss Cabinet Expansion and Upcoming Elections
Key Discussions Between Yogi Adityanath and PM Modi
On Monday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a meeting with Prime Minister Modi at the Prime Minister's residence. The two leaders engaged in discussions regarding the expansion of the cabinet and strategies for the upcoming 2027 elections. They also talked about the state's development initiatives and political tactics for the forthcoming elections. Following his meeting with PM Modi, Chief Minister Yogi is expected to meet BJP President JP Nadda at 3:30 PM, amidst growing discussions about cabinet expansion in Uttar Pradesh.
Anticipated Cabinet Expansion and Organizational Changes
With Pankaj Chaudhary recently appointed as the new president of the Uttar Pradesh BJP, the long-awaited cabinet expansion and organizational changes are now on the party's agenda. This cabinet expansion is likely to occur after the Makar Sankranti festival, around January 14-15, 2026. Additionally, the process for political appointments in commissions, boards, and councils is expected to commence soon. The BJP has seen several changes recently, including the surprising appointment of Nitin Nabeen as the national executive president, while Pankaj Chaudhary was the sole candidate to file for the state president position.
Political Dynamics in Uttar Pradesh
The BJP made headlines when several Brahmin legislators participated in a joint feast, stirring political activity in Uttar Pradesh and even reaching Delhi. This gathering, referred to as a 'Sahbhoj', took place at the residence of PN Pathak in Lucknow and included around 40 legislators and MLCs. This meeting gained attention particularly because it followed two previous meetings held by Thakur legislators, which included state ministers Jayveer Singh and Dayashankar Singh, among others. Former MP Rajveer Singh Raju Bhaiya also organized a conference for legislators, MPs, and leaders from the Lodhi community, although the party did not raise any objections at that time. Similarly, BJP's Kurmi legislators held a meeting under the banner of the Kurmi Intellectual Forum, but it did not attract as much attention.
