While in Ghazipur, CM Yogi urged the audience to remember the bravery displayed during the 1971 India-Pakistan war, mentioning martyr Ram Ugra Pandey, who hailed from this sacred land and was posthumously awarded the 'Mahavir Chakra' for his valor. He also referenced renowned Hindi essayist Shri Kuber Nath Rai and the prolific writer Gopal Ram Gahamari, known for over 200 novels. Yogi questioned why Ghazipur, a district that has produced such illustrious figures, has faded into obscurity and why people hesitate to mention its name.
Criticism of Political Rivals
CM Yogi further stated that those perpetuating the identity crisis are the same individuals who have honored foreign invaders instead of respecting India's national heroes. He asserted that the BJP-NDA government honors these heroes, recalling how Maharaja Suheldev defeated the invader Salar Masood over a thousand years ago. Yogi criticized the SP and Congress for never organizing events in honor of Maharaja Suheldev, whose bravery protected the nation from foreign aggressors.
Honoring National Heroes
He expressed pride in the fact that under his administration, the celebration of Salar Masood has been halted, and instead, a grand statue of Maharaja Suheldev has been erected in Bahraich. He announced the establishment of a medical college in Bahraich and a university in Azamgarh in honor of Maharaja Suheldev, emphasizing the importance of recognizing national heroes.
