Yogi Adityanath Honors Kalyan Singh on His 94th Birth Anniversary
A Tribute to Kalyan Singh
On the occasion of Kalyan Singh's 94th birth anniversary, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid tribute to the former chief minister on Monday. He emphasized that Singh's tenure would always be remembered for his commitment to good governance, development, and a nationalist mission, especially as he sacrificed his power in respect of the sentiments of Ram devotees and saints.
During a memorial event held in Singh's honor, Adityanath remarked that when attempts were made to destabilize Singh's government amid the peak of the Ram Janmabhoomi movement, he did not hesitate to sacrifice his position for the respect of Lord Ram and the sentiments of his followers.
Kalyan Singh's Legacy
Adityanath noted that although Singh's government came to an end, he took full responsibility for upholding his duties towards Lord Ram and the commitment to dismantle the structures of oppression. Singh was recognized as the first chief minister of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Uttar Pradesh. When he took office in 1991, the state was plagued by chaos, lawlessness, and rampant crime.
Terrorist activities were on the rise, and the benefits of government schemes were not reaching the villages, the poor, farmers, youth, or women. Amidst this disorder, Singh took charge of Uttar Pradesh.
A Vision for Development
Adityanath expressed that within months of Singh's leadership, the people began to believe that Uttar Pradesh was on the path to good governance and new developmental milestones. He stated that Singh's tenure as chief minister would always be associated with promoting good governance, development, and a nationalist agenda, which is why every Indian remembers him fondly.
Born into a humble farming family, Kalyan Singh learned the principles of nationalism at the RSS school and dedicated his life to these ideals. While paying homage to Singh's memories, Adityanath remarked that although he is no longer with us, Singh's contributions as a legislator, minister, chief minister, MP, and governor will always be unforgettable for the nation.
