Uttar Pradesh's Commitment to Farmers

On Sunday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized that the 'double engine' government is dedicated to ensuring a bright and secure future for farmers in Uttar Pradesh. While addressing a farmer honor ceremony, he noted that since the NDA government took office in 2014, farmers have become a key focus of its agenda. The state government reported that approximately 12 crore farmers are benefiting from the Prime Minister's Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme.

Government Initiatives for Agricultural Development

Yogi Adityanath remarked that in 2014, it became evident that farmers could be integral to a government's political agenda. He highlighted the introduction of the Soil Health Card scheme by Prime Minister Modi, followed by the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana and the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. The Prime Minister's Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme has been instrumental in supporting 12 crore farmers, showcasing the government's commitment to enhancing their future.

Addressing Farmer Issues and Financial Support

The Chief Minister recalled that when his government took charge in 2017, farmer suicides were prevalent, and there were no support systems in place. The first initiative was to implement a loan waiver program for 86 lakh farmers, amounting to ₹36,000 crores. Following this, the government utilized the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana to enhance irrigation capabilities in the state. Earlier, Yogi Adityanath conducted a high-level review of the state tax department in Lucknow, instructing officials to adopt transparency, technical efficiency, and strict enforcement in tax collection.

Actions Against Shell Companies

In a recent meeting with members of the 16th Finance Commission in Lucknow, CM Yogi directed action against shell companies and fraudulent registrations. Finance Minister Suresh Khanna informed that the Chief Minister presented several demands to the Finance Commission, including an increase in the state's share of central taxes.
