Yogi Adityanath's Strong Remarks on Women's Reservation Bill
On Tuesday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched a fierce attack on the Congress and Samajwadi Party for opposing the constitutional amendment bill aimed at implementing women's reservation. He accused them of misusing the opportunity provided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to erase their anti-women image. These comments were made following his participation in the 'Jan Aakrosh Mahila Padayatra,' which protested the bill's defeat.
The government’s constitutional amendment bill (131st Amendment), which sought to implement women's reservation and increase the number of Lok Sabha seats to 816, was rejected in the Lok Sabha last Friday. After the march, Adityanath addressed party workers outside the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, stating that both Congress and the Samajwadi Party have undemocratic faces and their actions are anti-women. He claimed they attempted to misuse the opportunity given by Modi to change their negative image towards women.
Adityanath further emphasized that this is why 'half the population' (women) is protesting against Congress and its allies across the nation. He described the march as a symbol of women's dissatisfaction with the 'anti-women' attitudes of Congress, Samajwadi Party, TMC, and DMK. He was joined in the march by his colleagues Keshav Prasad Maurya, Brajesh Pathak, and other BJP leaders.
Previously, the Uttar Pradesh government had stated that this march was organized in protest against the failure to pass the significant amendment bill related to women's reservation, a move that has deeply hurt the aspirations of millions of mothers and sisters across the country.
