YEIDA Unveils Ambitious Rs 700 Crore Green Belt Project Along Yamuna Expressway

Introduction to the Green Belt Initiative

On Tuesday, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) revealed plans to construct a 35-kilometer-long and 100-meter-wide green belt along the Yamuna Expressway, stretching from Galgotias University to Noida Airport. This project is designed to provide a recreational area for families and visitors, with an investment of Rs 700 crore.

Project Details and Vision

Arun Vir Singh, the CEO of YEIDA, shared insights with a media outlet, stating, "We are preparing to issue a global tender to select an agency responsible for this innovative project. Our goal is to create ponds, lakes, water bodies, fountains, and themed parks for visitors. We aim to transform this area into a world-class green zone, giving Yamuna City a distinctive identity. Once completed, this green belt will serve as a new attraction in the region."

Addressing Perceptions and Identity

The CEO further noted that many people outside the district mistakenly believe that the urban area along the Yamuna Expressway, beyond the Formula One circuit, belongs to Greater Noida or Noida, as it has yet to establish its own identity. Therefore, the development of this green belt is crucial for creating a unique image as the area evolves.

Future Development Plans

A YEIDA official highlighted that Yamuna City currently lacks a notable gateway or landmark to position it as the third emerging city in Gautam Budh Nagar, following Noida and Greater Noida. The authority has advised residents living on approximately 250,000 hectares along the 165-kilometer stretch of the Yamuna Expressway, which connects Greater Noida to Agra. So far, YEIDA has acquired around 20,000 hectares of land, with plans to purchase an additional 60,000 hectares as Yamuna City reaches its full potential.

Green Belt Specifications

The authority's plan includes a 100-meter-wide green belt situated between the 60-meter road that connects the Yamuna Expressway to the city's developing sectors.
