YEIDA Sets Land Purchase Rates for 55 Villages in Bulandshahr to Enhance Noida Airport Development

Land Acquisition for Industrial Development
On Tuesday, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) announced the establishment of rates for acquiring agricultural land from farmers in 55 villages located in Bulandshahr. This initiative aims to facilitate the development of an industrial zone surrounding the Noida Airport.
Approximately five months prior, a committee led by Shailendra Bhatia was formed, and it presented its findings to CEO Arun Vir Singh on Tuesday. The finalized rates for land acquisition were included in this report, as the land is urgently required.
According to a report from a local media outlet, YEIDA CEO Arun Vir Singh stated, 'We will present the committee’s recommendations to the board to ensure we can offer competitive rates to farmers and acquire the necessary land for infrastructure and industrial growth in this area.' The committee determined the rates based on those offered in the neighboring Gautam Budh Nagar district. With the notification of these 55 villages for planned development, YEIDA aims to provide better compensation. Once the board approves, the authority will commence land purchases from farmers.
The committee also included other officials, such as Additional CEO Kapil Singh. The committee's guidelines stipulate that if a farmer opts to retain 7% of the acquired land as a residential plot, they will receive compensation at a rate of Rs 3,800 per square meter. Conversely, if the farmer declines the plot, the compensation will be Rs 4,300 per square meter.
These compensation rates were established in response to farmers' requests, as those in Gautam Buddha Nagar district are receiving Rs 4,300 per square meter for airport-related projects.
The rates will apply to farmers in the 55 villages of Bulandshahr that were designated by YEIDA for planned development on June 23, 2023.
YEIDA has identified these areas for land acquisition due to the emergence of illegal colonies in certain locations. The authority aims to curb these unauthorized developments by purchasing land directly from farmers.
In June 2023, YEIDA expressed its intention to construct two new expressways and a rail connection from Chola railway station in Bulandshahr to the Noida International Greenfield Airport under construction in Jewar. This initiative marks a significant step towards land acquisition by establishing fixed rates.
