Sitanshu Kotak, the batting coach for India, expressed his confidence in opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal, encouraging him to remain patient despite the intense competition for spots in the team. Kotak praised Jaiswal as 'one of the best batters' and noted his consistent performances whenever he has had the chance. He advised Jaiswal to keep honing his skills and maintaining a positive mindset while awaiting his next opportunity.

Jaiswal has been included in India's ODI squad for the upcoming series against the West Indies, but his position in the starting lineup, especially as an opener, is not guaranteed. The established opening pair of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill continues to dominate, leaving Jaiswal to vie for a spot and make his case whenever he gets the chance. Kotak shared these insights with reporters ahead of India's first ODI against the West Indies in Thiruvananthapuram on Saturday.

Encouragement to Keep Improving

Kotak remarked, 'There is a lot of competition for places, and many players are excelling. Jaiswal is undoubtedly one of the top batters, and he consistently delivers when given a chance. He is part of the team.' He emphasized the role of the support staff in nurturing Jaiswal's skills and mindset, mentioning that Gautam Gambhir frequently engages with him. Kotak also pointed out that in a scenario where multiple talented players exist, such as wicketkeepers, only one can take the field at a time.

'It's not a matter of unfairness towards him. He must continue to work diligently and be ready for his opportunity. Whenever he has played, he has shown his capabilities,' Kotak added.

Jaiswal's Recent Performance

Jaiswal participated in all three ODIs against Afghanistan at home but was later omitted from the squad for the tour of England.
