Yashasvi Jaiswal's Decision to Stay with Mumbai

Indian cricketer Yashasvi Jaiswal has opted to remain with the Mumbai team for the forthcoming domestic season, reversing his previous intention to join Goa.

The 22-year-old had recently requested a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) to facilitate his transfer, citing personal reasons.

However, in a recent correspondence with the MCA, Jaiswal has requested to retract the NOC and confirmed his dedication to playing for Mumbai.

In April 2025, Jaiswal's decision to leave Mumbai cricket surprised many. Reports indicated that he was considering the move primarily due to his family's plans to relocate to Goa and the potential opportunity to lead the Goa cricket team.

The prospect of mentoring a younger squad and gaining more captaincy experience in domestic cricket was reportedly appealing to him.

However, recent changes in his personal circumstances seem to have influenced his decision. In his latest letter to the MCA, Jaiswal explained that his family's plans to move have been postponed, making the transition to Goa unnecessary.

He also mentioned that he had not pursued the NOC at the BCCI level nor submitted it to the Goa Cricket Association.

“I would like to inform you that I have decided to continue playing for Mumbai. My family’s plans to shift to Goa have changed, and I feel it’s best for me to continue my domestic cricket with the Mumbai team,” Jaiswal reportedly wrote in the letter.

The MCA is currently evaluating his request to withdraw the NOC and is anticipated to make an official announcement soon.

Jaiswal, who has already made a mark on the international stage, remains a key player for Mumbai in domestic cricket. His continued presence is expected to bolster the team's batting lineup and enhance their chances of reclaiming dominance in the domestic circuit.
