World's Largest Shivling Arrives in Bihar: A Historic Journey from Tamil Nadu
A Historic Journey Nears Its End
A remarkable journey that began in Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu, is now approaching its final destination. The world's largest Shivling has reached Gopalganj in Bihar, attracting a large number of devotees eager to witness this monumental structure. Weighing 210 metric tons and standing 33 feet tall, this Shivling is set to be installed at the 'Virat Ramayan Temple' located in Kesariya, East Champaran.
Crafted from a Single Stone Over a Decade
One of the most impressive aspects of this Shivling is that it was carved from a single massive block of black granite in Mahabalipuram. The artisans dedicated nearly ten years to its meticulous crafting.
The surface of the Shivling features 1008 smaller lingams, enhancing its spiritual significance. This colossal structure was transported to Bihar using a specially designed truck with 96 wheels.
Devotees Celebrate Its Arrival
Upon its arrival in Gopalganj, local residents welcomed the Shivling with cheers and celebrations. A local resident, Satyam Goswami, expressed his joy, stating, 'We are fortunate that the world's largest Shivling has come to our area. Devotees have been gathering since morning for prayers.' Another devotee, Kundan Devi, mentioned that the entire village is in a festive mood, with people traveling from afar to catch a glimpse of this magnificent Shivling.
What to Expect from the 'Virat Ramayan Temple'
The grand temple, being constructed by the Mahavir Mandir Trust, is currently under development. It will measure 1080 feet in length and 540 feet in width, featuring a total of 18 spires, with the main spire reaching a height of 270 feet.
On January 17, the Shivling will be ceremoniously installed at the Virat Ramayan Temple in Kesariya. This temple is poised to become a significant religious and tourist attraction for Bihar.
