Patna, September 11: A recent event in Bihar's Begusarai has sparked serious concerns regarding police authority. During a raid in a slum area near Lohiyanagar Gumti, a group of women reportedly surrounded law enforcement officers and facilitated the escape of two wanted individuals who had just been apprehended.

This incident unfolded on Thursday night when police acted on a tip-off regarding the suspects' whereabouts in the slum adjacent to NH-31.

Upon arrival, the police successfully detained both individuals, who were wanted in connection with several criminal cases.

While being transported to the police station, a crowd of women from the slum protested against the arrests, allegedly surrounding the officers and enabling the suspects to flee.

Taking advantage of the chaos, both men escaped the scene.

Authorities indicated that the suspects are linked to multiple cases under the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita and had been evading capture for an extended period.

Havildar Banshidhar, present during the incident, noted that certain individuals in the slum engage in illegal activities, particularly at night.

He mentioned that the police were unable to use force against the women and that discharging firearms was not a viable option.

Further actions are anticipated, with police reinforcements expected to be deployed following instructions from higher authorities.

In the aftermath, law enforcement has initiated a search operation to locate the escaped suspects.

This incident has raised alarms regarding the effectiveness of police operations in apprehending wanted criminals in the region.

Authorities are now tasked with investigating how the escape occurred and whether any measures will be taken against those who obstructed the police.

Efforts to recapture the two fugitives are ongoing, with additional actions pending guidance from senior officials.
