Neumarin was astonished to learn that whale vomit can fetch a high price in the international market. The piece she found measured 12 inches wide and 24 inches long, with an estimated value of around £186,000, equivalent to approximately ₹1.8 crore.

For context, ambergris is produced in the digestive system of sperm whales. It is often used in perfumes, enhancing the longevity of fragrances. To verify if a substance is indeed ambergris, one can place a small piece in a flame; if it melts and hardens again, it confirms its authenticity. Neumarin successfully conducted this test.
