Woman Disappears After Deceiving Husband in Kullu's Matrimonial Fraud Case

A Shocking Case of Matrimonial Deceit in Kullu
KULLU: A startling incident of betrayal and deception has emerged from Banjar Valley in Himachal Pradesh, where a man fell victim to a woman who is reportedly a serial bride.
The woman, who is now in her fourth marriage, vanished just months after their wedding, absconding with Rs 20,000 in cash, gold and silver jewelry, as well as the proceeds from the sale of her husband's ancestral property. Authorities revealed that she even persuaded her husband to transfer Rs 2.5 lakh into her account under the guise of promising lucrative business ventures.
This shocking saga unfolded in the secluded village of Baloun, where Gyan Chand, the victim, married a woman from the Bali Chowki area in 2024. The marriage was arranged through her brother, who vouched for her integrity.
However, within a few months, she began pressuring Gyan Chand to sell 18 biswas of ancestral land, claiming she would assist him in achieving business success.
Trusting her intentions, Gyan Chand complied, and once the land was sold, she had Rs 2.5 lakh transferred to her personal bank account. She evaded all attempts by her husband to officially register her name with the local panchayat, which raised his suspicions.
In April 2025, she disappeared with the cash and jewelry, leaving behind a web of deceit. To Gyan Chand's shock, he later learned that this was her fourth marriage. He accused her entire family—her brother, mother, and father—of being involved in the scam and has lodged a formal complaint against them.
In a swift response, the Patlikuhal police located and apprehended the woman, who is currently undergoing interrogation. Kullu DSP KD Sharma confirmed her arrest and stated that further investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of her involvement in similar fraudulent activities.
Local residents are taken aback by the boldness of this crime, raising alarms about the increasing instances of matrimonial fraud in the region.
