Details of the Incident

A woman living in a live-in relationship with an army soldier has been taken into custody on charges of strangling him to death, according to police reports.


The police revealed that during interrogation, the accused woman claimed that the soldier, Amit Sagar, aged 32, would often physically assault her when under the influence of alcohol.


Nitesh Pratap Singh, the area officer from Najibabad, informed the media on Friday that Amit Sagar was cohabiting with Mamta in Adarsh Nagar, Najibabad.


He further stated that Amit was admitted to the hospital in critical condition on July 15, where he later succumbed to his injuries. An autopsy confirmed that he had been murdered by strangulation.


Singh mentioned that Amit's mother, Kanti Devi, filed a report accusing Mamta of the murder.


Confession and Investigation

Singh reported that Mamta was arrested on Thursday and during questioning, she confessed to the crime, explaining that they had been living together for three years.


According to Singh, Mamta expressed her desire to end the relationship due to Amit's habitual violence when intoxicated.


The police have registered a case in connection with this incident.
