Arrests Made in Extortion Case

In the Lohiyanagar area of Meerut district, law enforcement has apprehended a woman and her brother for allegedly demanding extortion under the threat of releasing a viral video. This information was confirmed by police sources.


On Tuesday, authorities reported that the duo, identified as Seema and her brother Ankit, were taken into custody near the Lohiyanagar tempo stand.


According to reports, a complaint was filed on December 22 by Shanu from Hapur district. The complaint stated that Seema had called Shanu to meet her near the Lohiyanagar market and subsequently took him to an apartment.


Sources indicate that shortly after, Ankit, along with an acquaintance and another individual, arrived and allegedly threatened to release an explicit video of Shanu unless he paid seven lakh rupees.


It is alleged that they took four thousand rupees from the victim and held him captive until he could arrange the remaining amount. The victim was rescued when nearby residents responded to the commotion.


Authorities have confirmed that a case has been registered, and an investigation is currently underway.
