Woman and Broker Arrested for Marriage Fraud in Rewari
Marriage Scam Uncovered in Rewari
Authorities in Rewari have apprehended a woman and a broker involved in a marriage scam. Reports indicate that the victim, Jaldeep, also from Rewari, fell prey to their deceitful scheme.
In his police report, Jaldeep recounted his initial meeting with broker Sohal, who introduced him to a woman named Pooja from Ambedkar district in Uttar Pradesh. Jaldeep paid 2 lakh rupees, purportedly for a controversial temple ritual, and on June 4, he brought Pooja to his village.
However, on the night of June 5, the bride vanished with valuable jewelry and cash. Following this, the police launched an investigation, leading to the capture of both the bride and the broker in Uttar Pradesh. During questioning, it was revealed that the woman posing as Pooja was actually named Kaushalya, a married woman with four children.
Further inquiries disclosed that the individual she referred to as her brother, Rahul, was in fact her boyfriend, Rakesh. Additionally, Kaushalya had been renting individuals to impersonate her parents for a fee of fifteen hundred rupees. Her husband, a laborer in Delhi, was reportedly distressed by her actions. Notably, Kaushalya had previously been arrested in a similar case in Bharatpur, Rajasthan, in 2024, and was out on bail at the time of this incident.
The police have now presented the suspects in court and secured a two-day remand for further interrogation. This case highlights the prevalence of fraud not only in professional settings but also in personal matters, serving as a reminder for individuals to remain vigilant in their daily lives.
