NIA Issues Second Non-Bailable Warrant Against Hafiz Saeed

Jammu: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has obtained a non-bailable warrant for Hafiz Saeed, the founder of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and one of India's most wanted terrorists, currently residing in Pakistan. This warrant is linked to a terror case involving the provision of weapons, funding, and instructions to terrorist factions in the Union Territory.

This marks the second non-bailable warrant issued against Saeed within a span of two months.

On September 8, a Special Court in Jammu granted the NIA's request for the warrant against Saeed, who is classified as a terrorist under Section 75 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).

The NIA's application identified Saeed, who hails from Sargodha in Punjab, Pakistan, as an absconding suspect in a case concerning the arrest of Mohammad Naqeeb Bhat during a routine check near Srinagar earlier this year.

During this incident, a China-manufactured grenade and 15 live rounds were seized from Bhat, a resident of Batpora.

Bhat has been charged at Zakoora Police Station under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the Arms Act, and the Explosive Substances Act.

The investigation that followed uncovered a terror network, resulting in the apprehension of several terrorists linked to LeT and its affiliate, The Resistance Front (TRF), along with two Pakistani nationals.

The NIA revealed that Saeed's involvement became evident during the investigation, with the arrested Pakistani terrorists allegedly connected to him.

Operating from Pakistan, Saeed is reportedly supplying weapons, funds, and directives to terrorists active in the Kashmir Valley. The NIA informed the court that he is currently in Pakistan and is intentionally avoiding arrest.

After reviewing the agency's findings, Special Judge Prem Sagar noted that Saeed's involvement had been established during the investigation and that he is allegedly engaged in terrorist activities.

The judge acknowledged that Saeed remains at large and that the investigative agency has been unable to secure his presence through standard procedures, leading to the issuance of a general non-bailable warrant.

This latest warrant is the second issued by the Special NIA Court in Jammu against Saeed in just two months, following the first warrant issued on July 8 in connection with the Pahalgam terror attack last April, which resulted in the deaths of 25 tourists and a local resident.
