Return to Tradition: Indian Hockey Teams Embrace Blue Jerseys

New Delhi: Following significant backlash over their recent switch to saffron jerseys, the Indian hockey teams have decided to revert to their classic blue uniforms for the upcoming Asian Games. The initial change to saffron, which was worn during the FIH World Cups in the Netherlands and Belgium, sparked controversy within the organization. Hockey India (HI) president Dilip Tirkey openly criticized the decision, revealing that it was made without the consent of the federation's elected officials and Executive Board. “The Indian Olympic Association provided us with options for team kit colors, and Hockey India chose blue as the primary color for the Indian team’s attire. Orange was designated as the secondary option,” Tirkey explained during the send-off ceremony for the Asian Games-bound athletes. He emphasized that he had previously mentioned that the orange jersey was not a permanent choice and could be altered in the future. Now, blue is officially back in the lineup.
